These eggs are released into the body cavity and are then captured by the oviducts. The eggs are fertilized externally when the male releases sperm, and they are then laid in water. The cloaca is a common opening for excretion and reproductive activities in female frogs, allowing them to lay their eggs into water for development. Ovaries: The female reproductive system includes a pair of ovaries present in between the 2nd to 6th segments of the abdomen. Each ovary is formed by a group of ovarian tubules that contains rows of ova in various stages of development.

ii. Oviduct and Vagina: The ovary continues down in the form of a short, muscular tube called an oviduct. The right and left oviduct units form a single median oviduct, also called the vagina, which opens into the genital chamber.

iii. Spermatheca: A pair of spermatheca present in the 6th segment opens into the genital chamber, and it is used for storing the sperm. The left spermatheca is large and functional, while the right spermatheca is reduced and non-functional.

iv. Genital Pouch or Chamber: The genital pouch is a sizable boat-shaped structure surrounded by three pairs of chitinous plates that help in copulation, deposition of the egg. It is formed by the 7th,8th and 9th abdominal segments. It is divided into two chambers. The smaller chamber is called the genital atrium and is opening for the collaterial gland, spermatheca and opening of the common oviduct. Its large posterior part is called the vestibulum.

v. Collaterial Gland: Collaterial glands are present on either side of a genital chamber into which they open. Collaterial glands help in the formation of egg cases or ootheca. The ootheca is a dark reddish to the blackish-brown capsule, about 8mm long. They are dropped or glued to a suitable surface, usually in a crack or crevice producing 9 to 10 ootheca, each containing 14 to 16 eggs.

vi. External Genitalia: The gonapophyses contains three chitinous plates.

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;

The sperms are minute, microscopic and motile reproductive cells. They have an oval head piece, a neck, a middle piece and a long tail. Head piece consists of a large haploid nucleus. A sac like structure Acrosome is present in head piece which helps in fertilization. Middle piece has several mitochondria, which produce energy required for the movements of tail. Sperms live for a period of 24 to 72 hrs in the female reproductive system and afterwards they die and degenerate. Now lets draw a typical sperm cell.

The cell membrane is composed of lipids that are arranged in a bilayer. The lipids are arranged within the membrane with the polar head towards the outer sides and the hydrophobic tails towards the inner part. This ensures that the nonpolar tail of saturated hydrocarbons is protected from the aqueous environment . The lipid component the membrane mainly consists of phosphoglycerides. The biochemical investigation clearly revealed that the cell membranes also possess protein and carbohydrate. The ration of protein and lipid varies considerably in different cell types. The membrane proteins can be classified as integral or peripheral. Peripheral proteins lie on the surface of membrane while the integral proteins are partially or totally buried in the membrane. The widely accepted Fluid mosaic model of cell membrane was proposed by Singer and Nicolson. According, to this the quasi-fluid nature of lipid enables lateral movement of proteins within the overall bilayer. This ability to move within the membrane is measure as its fluidity.

Teeth are structures useful for biting, tearing, chewing and grinding. All mammals have more or less same construction of tooth.A vertical section of a tooth shows three parts viz the crown, the neck and the root. Crown is the part lying above the gum, the neck is the part in level with the gum and the root is the part buried in the sockets of the jaw bones. The white part of the tooth is known as the enamel. This is the hardest substance present in the body. The enamel is the non living substance containing calcium salts, and forms an hard biting surface.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Inner to enamel, is another solid tissue, the dentine. Dentine is not as hard as enamel. It contains fine strands of cytoplasm passing through it. Dentine encloses a cavity known as the pulp cavity. This cavity is supplied with blood capillaries and nerves. At the root of the tooth, dentine is covered by a thin layer of bone-like material called cement. The tooth is firmly held in the sockets of the jaw with the help of cement. Now lets start drawing a typical molar tooth.
Paramecium is a unicellular organism which lives in fresh water habitats such as lakes, ponds, streams, rivers and puddles. These tiny microscopic creatures has transparent body wall called Pellicle covered with several tiny hair like structures called Cilia. Several cilia produce lashing movements and enable paramecium to move in water. It feeds on bacteria, algae and other protists. It has a opening for feeding called Cytostome or oral groove, through which it takes its food by ciliary movements. The flower like stuff which you see in the top and bottom are Contractile vacuoles, they excrete excess salts to out side. It reproduces asexually by Binary fission where the Paramecium literally splits its body vertically into two daughter paramecia. It is also known as Slipper animalcule because of its typical slipper shape.

Muscular tissue is composed of Muscle cells. Muscle cells show three essential properties such as excitability, conductivity and contractility. Muscle cells are in enlongated form of fibres (Myocytes). The myocytes have several Myofibrils which are responsible for the alternate dark and light bands on striated or striped muscle. A skeletal muscle is made up of striped muscle cells. Each skeletal muscle fibre is long cylindrical and unbranched cell. It is a multinucleated cell with many oval nuclei. These cells work under conscious control of an organism.

Usually these cells are arranged in the form of sheets. A smooth muscle fibre is spindle shaped, uninucleate. Myofibrils do not show alternate dark and light bands due to irregular arrangement of actin and myosin molecules. They do not work under conscious control. Brain is the site of information processing and control. It is protected in the cranial cavity and covered by three connective tissue membranes called Cranial meninges. The brain can be divided into three major parts called i. Fore brain ii. Mid brain iii. Hind brain. Fore brain consists of Olfactory bulb, Cerebrum and Diencephalon. Mid brain is locateb between the thalamus of the fore brain and the Pons Varoli of the hind brain. Hind brain comprises Cerebellum, Pons varoli and Medulla oblongata. Cerebellum is the second largest part of the brain. It consists of two Cerebella hemispheres It has branching tree -like core of white mater called Arbor vitae (the tree of life) surrounded by a sheath of grey matter.

The brain consists of four ventricles. The first and second ventricles (Paracoels) are present in the right and left cerebral hemispheres respectively. The third ventricle (Diocoel) occurs in the diencephalon. The two Paracoels are connected to the median diocoel individually by the two foramina of Monro. The fourth ventricle (Myelocoel) is present in the medulla . The myelocoelk and the diocoel are connected by a narrow canal caller iter or Aqeuduct of Sylvius/Cerebral aqueduct..The ventricles of the brain, and the subarachnoid space are filled with Cerebro- spinal fluid. CSF is an alkaline, colourless fluid which is filtered from the choroid plexuses into the ventricles of the brain.

Drawing biology diagrams some times becomes a tough job for students. Many students experience difficulty in drawings, though they are good in descriptive part.In spite of hard work, the diagrams may not fetch good marks.
The reason is so obvious that an inaccurate, illegible diagram with no appeal can hardly impress the examiner in awarding maximum marks. Though students label parts correctly, they may get only 2 marks, because of poor diagramatic skills. Here are the tips which will make your diagrams look "out standing and accurate", helping you to score 'out of marks'.I hope you will have great experience in taking tour of this blog. All the best.

1.Always draw on un-ruled white paper aiming your diagram towards left, leaving space for labeling on right.

2.Draw using sharp single line, large enough to depict all parts of diagram clearly.

3.If you need to represent dark areas of diagram do not shade but put dots.

4.While labeling the parts, use single straight line towards right side of diagram. Ensure all labeling lines are parallel to each other as far as possible to give aesthetic appeal. Do not cross the lines one over other.

5.Draw scale bars representing actual dimensions of specimen, if your are asked to draw by looking at specimen.

6.Use always extra bold or 2H lead pencil to make your diagram clear and crispy.Never use a pen to label the parts or draw any part of diagram.

7. Do not number the labels and mention separately below diagram.

Here is example diagram of Euglena

-Do not draw the diagram using multiple strokes as on left but draw using smooth curve as shown in illustration.

-You can use those
strokes while developing outline of diagrams but later you have to erase
them and replace with a smooth curve.

Shading the diagram gives
aesthetic appeal but it isn't the rule of biology diagram. So,do not
shade any biology diagrams, but put neat dots as shown.
Do not intersect the
labeling lines as shown, because it causes confusion in understanding,
what part you are exactly labeling. you may loose marks for that. Draw
the labeling lines parallel to each other as far as possible with out
intersecting them, as shown in below example.
Ear is the auditory sense organ and also helps in maintaining body equilibrium. Human ear is divided in to External, Middle and Internal ear.External ear consists of a flap like structure called Pinna. It leads to auditory canal. The pinna is crumpled and is made up of cartilage. Middle ear plays an important role in amplifying the vibrations received on the ear drum. Tongue is made up of muscles. It contains about ten thousand taste buds. The taste buds are located in wall of the papillae.Like smell, taste is also a sense based on identifying chemicals in food and the texture. The sense of taste and smell have a close and cooperative working relationship. The sense of taste 'Gustation' involves qualities of Sweet, sour, bitter and salty. Umami is the savory flavor found in protein rich foods such as meat, seafood and cheese. It is associated with Monosodium glutamate(MSG) also called huching, often used in Asian cuisine. Now, let's draw.

Cont:-The
taste receptors cells, located in the taste buds on the top and side of
the tongue, sample flavours from food and drink as they come into
contact with surface of tongue. These taste receptors cluster in small
mucous membrane projections called 'Papillae'. Each is sensitive to
molecules of a particular type.The
flake like structures on tongue are called Filiform papillae, the
roundish ones at the back of the tongue are vallate papillae, the bump
like structures on sides of tongue are Foliate papillae. Taste buds are
present in all these papillae except the Filiform papillae. Each taste
bud has a cavity with a pore called taste pore. The epithelial cells,
surrounding the taste buds form the taste cells or the receptors. The
receptors cells are situated in the cavity. Each receptor connects to
the nerve fibre. All the nerve fibres connect to main nerves that carry
impulses to the brain.
